About us

Welcome to Kranti, a dedicated organization based in Amble village, Pune district, Maharashtra, working tirelessly to address the pressing issues faced by the Adivasi and Nomadic and De-notified communities in Pune and Ahmednagar districts. Our organisation focuses on various key areas such as education, health, atrocity prevention, domestic violence, land rights, and citizenship entitlements.

In our initial phase, we took upon ourselves the responsibility of educating 328 children from the 1st standard to graduation belonging to these marginalised communities. With the support and compassion of individuals who believe in our cause, we provide these children with educational materials, mentorship, and guidance classes, empowering them to achieve their fullest potential.

Kranti was founded in 2010 by a passionate woman from the Pardhi tribe who had experienced firsthand the challenges faced by Adivasi’s, and NT-DNTs. As a social activist, she encountered the helplessness within the community and outside, including Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and state departments, to effectively address critical issues faced by women such as health, hygiene, education, and livelihood. Due to factors like criminal stigma, untouchability practices, lack of acceptance from villagers, structural violence, and poor socio-economic conditions, outsiders were often hesitant to extend assistance to Adivasi’s, and NT-DNTs.

Due to factors like criminal stigma, untouchability practices, lack of acceptance from villagers, structural violence, and poor socio-economic conditions, outsiders were often hesitant to extend assistance to Adivasi’s, and NT-DNTs.

The founder president of Kranti herself grew up in a family that relied on begging to survive. She and her family faced violence from villagers due to the criminal stigma associated with their tribe. Witnessing the plight of her family and fellow Adivasis and NT-DNTs who were forced to continuously migrate in search of a livelihood, she recognized the immense challenges faced by women in particular. It was in response to these struggles that she and other Pardhi women decided to establish their own organisation based on the principle of "self-help."

Thus, four women and three men from the Pardhi tribe came together and registered the Kranti organisation in the Pune district of Maharashtra, India. At present, Kranti has a dedicated team of eight women and seven men working diligently within the organization. In addition to our core team, we are fortunate to have the support of 85 volunteers spread across Pune and Ahmednagar districts, who contribute their time and efforts to help organisation to achieve its mission.

At Kranti, we firmly believe that by empowering individuals with education, healthcare, and the knowledge of their rights, we can create a society that is fair, inclusive, and free from discrimination. We strive to break the barriers imposed by social prejudices and work towards a future where every individual, regardless of their background, has an equal opportunity to thrive and contribute to society.

Join us in our journey as we continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Adivasi and NT-DNTs communities, ensuring their voices are heard, their rights are protected, and their dreams are realized. Together, we can bring about lasting change and build a more just and equitable society for all.
