Land Rights

At Kranti, we recognise the significance of land rights for the Adivasi and NT-DNT communities. We are dedicated to advocating for and protecting their land rights, which are crucial for their social, economic, and cultural well-being. Our work raises awareness, provides legal support, and empowers community members to assert their rights and secure their land tenure.

Our Approach :

Awareness and Education: We conduct awareness campaigns and educational programs to empower Adivasi and NT-DNT communities with knowledge about their land rights. Through community meetings, workshops, and interactive sessions, we educate individuals about their legal rights, entitlements, and the importance of land ownership. We also address any misconceptions, myths, or discriminatory practices that may hinder land rights.  We aim to equip community members with the understanding needed to assert their rights confidently.

Legal Assistance: We provide legal support and guidance to community members in navigating the complex legal processes related to land rights. Our team of legal experts assists individuals in understanding their rights, filing land ownership claims, resolving land disputes, and advocating for fair and just treatment. We strive to ensure that community members have access to legal aid to protect their land rights effectively.

➤ Community Mobilization: We actively engage with community members to mobilize collective action in asserting their land rights. Through community meetings, grassroots organizing, and support networks, we encourage communities to come together, share their experiences, and collectively demand their rights. We promote community-led initiatives and empower individuals to advocate for their land rights.

➤ Advocacy and Policy Reform: We actively advocate for policy reform and the implementation of laws that recognize and protect the land rights of the Adivasi and NT-DNT communities. We collaborate with government bodies, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders to influence policy changes that safeguard land tenure and address historical injustices. Our advocacy efforts aim to create a supportive legal framework that upholds the rights of these communities.

➤ Land Documentation and Surveys: We facilitate land documentation and surveys to establish a comprehensive land ownership and usage record within the Adivasi and NT-DNT communities. These surveys help identify land boundaries, resolve conflicts, and strengthen the evidence base for asserting land rights. We work closely with community members to ensure their land rights are properly documented and recognised.

➤ Capacity Building: We conduct capacity-building programs to empower community members with the knowledge and skills to navigate land-related processes. Through workshops, training sessions, and skill development programs, we provide individuals with the tools to assert their rights, negotiate land disputes, and engage in sustainable land management practices. By building capacity, we aim to enhance the community's ability to secure and sustain their land rights.

➤ Research and Documentation: We conduct research and documentation to highlight the issues, challenges, and successes related to land rights for Adivasi and NT-DNT communities. This research helps in building evidence-based arguments, raising awareness, and advocating for policy changes. We document case studies and success stories to inspire and inform others in similar struggles.

By raising awareness, providing legal assistance, advocating for policy reform, facilitating land documentation, and offering capacity-building programs, we strive to protect and promote the land rights of the Adivasi and NT-DNT communities. Together, we can create a future where these communities have secure land tenure, enabling them to preserve their cultural heritage, achieve economic stability, and thrive in harmony with their environment.
